Yo know he was a player under Mourinho I think the beginning of the 17/18 he went under heart surgery and said he would retire come end of the season . He became a part for the coaching staff for experience late in Mourinho’s reign and then was told to stay while ole was interm manager .After ole became the appointed manager carrick was added to his close coaching staff.

@@harps_NousMourinho's assistant coach left hiring Carrick was an easy decision, and From Carrick's perspective it's completely understandable. It's also phenomenal PR from Mourinho AND Ole: Carrick wins (the dumb) fans over, and saves the owners a few million pounds by not having to hire real coaches. Its the same recipe that got Ole the job in the first place, and allowed non-players (Jones, Lingard, Mata, Lee Grant..) to stay at the club for so long. The same logic applies to the coaches: Phelan, McKenna, Carrick, and everybody else, the Owners keep saving more money for themselves, and average coaches keep experimenting and enjoying their positions. A win-win situation everyone involved, and for the whole football world, except for the players and the United fans.

During the matches, the players don't know how to press as a team. There is no strategy to pressing. It's like individual players decide when to get close or when to stay in position. Other teams press in a manner that the opposition is forced to go through certain passing lanes. We also don't seem to have a plan to attack when we have the ball. The same coaching staff is still coaching the team. All we see is some cardio training. This is what we are seeing on the pitch as well

Pressing for 90 mins is no joke .It takes a lot of work in training to practise that .United don't play the pressing way ,Ronaldo doesn't fit in that pressing system .

A good player does not result in a good manager, we saw that with ole and other managers throughout history. My only hope is that Carrick has the balls to keep the team in place, and has some sort of tactic going into the game, other than " have fun out there"

Unfortunally, Shaw is better than telles and we might not see him often, I could agree that shaw is a nightmare when it comes to defence sometimes, but his attacking game and vision is probably the best.

Everybody looks relaxed I am surprised.

It looks a bit more intense in training, so hopefully that is a change which will effect our game in a better way

I've actually never seen half of these players before because they never played.

This could never be my team in utter and absolute shambles. Embarrassing🔵

He should play the most experienced players, like Matic, Mata, and focus on keeping compact and hitting Villarreal on the counter and quick turnovers.
